What is Claude Cowork, and is it available in the UK?
Short answer
Claude Cowork is the mode in Anthropic's Claude that carries out tasks for you, such as organising a folder, building a report or working across connected apps, rather than just chatting. It's available in the UK on paid plans: Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. Claude Pro costs £20 a month in the UK App Store (checked 17 October 2026).

Anthropic says that since 6 October 2026, new Cowork tasks on Pro and Max run in its cloud, so they continue when your laptop is closed. It's also merging Chat and Cowork into one Claude experience, rolling out gradually.

Is it safe?
Agents act on your behalf, so mistakes have consequences, and computer use is still in beta for Pro and Max. Give it access only to the folders and apps it needs, and check what it produces. See can AI agents be trusted? and does Claude use my data for training?

Can Claude Cowork send emails?
Yes, with the Gmail connector. Claude can search and read your email, write drafts and send, reply or forward. By default it asks you to approve each email before sending, and Team and Enterprise admins control whether that approval can be switched off.
