Job advert generator

Build a clear UK job advert from a few details: pay, hours, duties and how to apply. How to use it

1. Fill in the details. Keep the essentials short: only what someone truly needs on day one.
2. Read the notes under the advert. They flag pay below the adult minimum wage and words GOV.UK warns about.
3. Copy the advert to Indeed, Facebook groups, your website or a shop window. Optional: paste the prompt into ChatGPT to tidy it.
4. Before you hire, work out the full cost with the cost of employing someone calculator and check rates with the minimum wage checker.

The UK rules behind the checks

• Minimum wage. From 1 April 2026 the National Living Wage for workers aged 21 and over is £12.71 an hour; there are lower rates for 18 to 20, under 18 and apprentices (GOV.UK, checked 17 October 2026).
• Wording. GOV.UK says a job advert must not state or imply that you'll discriminate against anyone, and gives "recent graduate" and "highly experienced" as phrases to use only if they are real requirements (GOV.UK, checked 17 October 2026).
• Right to work. You must check every new employee has the right to work in the UK before they start (GOV.UK).
