AI review tools for builders in the UK
Building jobs are big, slow and personal, so one review from a customer whose extension took four months says more than ten for small repairs. You'll have fewer customers than a plumber, which means asking every one of them, at the right time, matters more.
Prices were re-checked on each provider's own page; the date is next to each one. Rules and figures from GOV.UK are linked where they're used.
When to ask on a long job
Ask at handover, when the customer is pleased and the snag list is done, not in the middle of a delay. Send your Google review link or QR code (Google) with the final invoice and a few photos of the finished work. If the job had problems you resolved, a review that mentions how you handled them can be more convincing than a perfect one.
Don't buy, swap or filter reviews
Google bans incentives for reviews and asking only happy customers (Google). UK law since April 2025 bans fake reviews and concealed incentivised reviews (CMA); swapping reviews with another firm counts as fake engagement too. The CMA can fine up to 10% of global turnover for breaches of consumer law (CMA).
Trust marks and review sites
Many builders also use a trade directory with its own reviews. Show a directory badge or trade association logo only while your membership is live: misusing a trust mark is banned outright (CMA). Trustpilot's free plan sends 50 automated invitations a month, which is plenty for most building firms.

What to check before you choose
- Low volume: a personal message at handover usually beats an automated app.
- Paid tools price in dollars: NiceJob from $75 a month, Podium from $399 (checked 15 and 14 October 2026).
- Ask every customer, including those whose jobs had problems.
- Store handover photos with the job so you can include them in the request.
- If you use a trade directory too, check its own rules on asking for reviews.
A prompt to start with
Paste this into ChatGPT or Claude, filling in the brackets:
Write a handover message to [customer name] for the [job] at [street]. Thank them, attach the warranty and certificate details I'll paste in, remind them how to report a snag, and ask if they'd leave an honest Google review here: [link]. Warm but brief, British spelling, no incentive.

Questions
Can I offer a discount for a Google review?
No. Google's policy bans offering payment, discounts or free goods or services for reviews, and UK law since April 2025 bans concealed incentivised reviews. Ask every customer, with no reward.
How do I reply to a review about delays?
Acknowledge the delay, give the reason briefly without blaming the customer, say what you did to finish, and offer to talk. Keep private details out of the reply.
Are these prices in pounds?
Not all. Where a provider only publishes US dollar prices we show dollars, so check the price in pounds at checkout.
Do you get paid if I sign up?
