Does Claude use my data for training?
Short answer
Only if you allow it on a personal plan. On Claude Free, Pro and Max, a model improvement setting decides whether your chats are used to train Anthropic's models; you can turn it off at any time. Anthropic's pricing page says Team and Enterprise plans have no model training on your data by default. Incognito chats aren't used for training.
How to turn it off
In Claude, go to Settings, then Privacy, and switch off the setting to help improve Claude. Anthropic says that once it's off, your previous and new chats won't be used for future training, though data already in a training run or a trained model stays there.

Is Claude GDPR compliant?
No tool is "compliant" on its own: compliance depends on how you use it. For customer data, a business plan with a data processing agreement is the safer route than a personal account. The ICO said on 8 October 2026 that Anthropic was one of ten AI developers that made, or committed to, data protection changes after its review.
