AI scheduling tools for heating engineers in the UK
Heating engineers have the most predictable repeat work of any trade: annual boiler services and landlord gas safety checks come round every year. The difficulty is the autumn crush, when breakdowns and services land in the same weeks. Scheduling software with service reminders spreads the services across the year and keeps emergency slots free when the first cold snap hits.
Prices were re-checked on each provider's own page; the date is next to each one. Rules and figures from GOV.UK are linked where they're used.
Service reminders
Landlords must have a Gas Safe registered engineer check each gas appliance and flue they supply every year (GOV.UK). Commusoft is built around service reminders and a customer portal; ServiceM8 includes recurring jobs on all plans. Set reminders a few weeks before the due date, and push non-urgent services into the quieter spring and summer months.
Keep your registration in the diary too
You must be on the Gas Safe Register to do gas work, and registration is renewed every year (GOV.UK). Put your own renewal, and each engineer's, in the same calendar as the jobs, so it never lapses in the middle of the busy season.
Heat pump surveys
Boiler Upgrade Scheme jobs (£7,500 towards an air source or ground source heat pump, GOV.UK) involve a survey, a quote, the grant application and the install. Book these as linked stages on one job so the customer can see where things are, and so a delayed grant doesn't leave an install date stranded.

Questions
Which app is best for boiler service reminders?
Commusoft is built around service reminders but prices by quote; ServiceM8 includes recurring jobs on all plans, with a free plan for 30 jobs a month. Checked 15 October 2026.
How early should I remind customers?
A few weeks before the due date gives time to book. For landlord checks, earlier is better, because the record must be given to tenants.
Are these prices in pounds?
Not all. Where a provider only publishes US dollar prices we show dollars, so check the price in pounds at checkout.
