Statutory Paternity Pay calculator

Estimate Statutory Paternity Pay for one or two weeks at the lower of £194.32 or 90% of average weekly earnings. Leave can be taken as one block or two separate weeks.

The weekly rate

Statutory Paternity Pay is £194.32 a week, or 90% of average weekly earnings if that is lower (GOV.UK). It is paid in the same way as wages, with tax and National Insurance deducted.

How much leave

You can take up to 2 weeks' leave, together or as two separate one-week blocks. Leave cannot start before the birth and must end within 52 weeks of the birth (or the due date if the baby is early). Northern Ireland has different rules (GOV.UK).

Compared with maternity and adoption pay

Statutory Maternity Pay and Statutory Adoption Pay use the same £194.32 / 90% lower rate for most of the period, but they run for up to 39 weeks with a higher 90% rate for the first 6 weeks. See the SMP calculator and the adoption pay calculator.
