What a good quote includes
A clear scope, what's not included, a price broken down enough to compare, how long the price holds, the deposit and payment terms. If you agree the job in the customer's home, you must also tell them about their 14-day right to cancel (GOV.UK). For construction work for another VAT-registered contractor, the domestic reverse charge usually applies, and HMRC's example invoice wording is "Customer to pay the VAT to HMRC" (HMRC).
Work out your price first with the quote and VAT calculator and how to price a job. Add a fair price-change clause for materials, and see how to write a quote that wins. Sending lots of quotes? Compare quoting apps for builders or job management apps.
Questions
Is a quote legally binding?
Once the customer accepts it, a quote usually forms a contract at that price, so be clear about scope and exclusions.
What's the difference between a quote and an estimate?
A quote is normally a fixed price for the described work; an estimate is a best guess that may change. Say which one you're giving.
Can I save it as a PDF?
Yes. Click Print and choose Save as PDF.
Is my information stored?
No. Everything stays in your browser.
