Can ChatGPT be used for business?

Short answer

Yes. ChatGPT can be used for business on any plan, including free, for writing emails and quotes, analysing spreadsheets, planning marketing and researching new customers. If you handle customer or staff data, use ChatGPT Business, which OpenAI says doesn't train on your data by default. You stay responsible for checking everything it produces.

What it's good at

  • Writing: quotes, emails, proposals, job adverts and policies.
  • Business analysis: upload sales or cost spreadsheets and ask for trends, margins and a plain-English summary. Check the numbers.
