AI scheduling tools for electricians in the UK

Electricians juggle first fix and second fix visits on the same site, EICRs for landlords and agents, and small call-outs that need a slot this week. The difficulty isn't the number of jobs; it's that one late delivery or a failed inspection pushes the next three. Scheduling software keeps the dependencies visible and tells customers when their slot moves.

Prices were re-checked on each provider's own page; the date is next to each one. Rules and figures from GOV.UK are linked where they're used.

Landlord and agent EICRs

Private landlords must have the electrics in rented homes checked at least every 5 years (GOV.UK). Agents often send batches of addresses with access by tenant arrangement. A scheduling app that stores access notes, tenant phone numbers and the next due date against each property turns that into repeat work. ServiceM8 includes recurring jobs on all plans.

First and second fix

Book second fix as a linked job, not a separate customer, so moving one moves the other. Fergus is built around job costing and timesheets, and Tradify lists subcontractor management alongside scheduling, which helps when you work on a builder's programme.

Certificates in the same app

If you're registered with a competent person scheme such as NICEIC (Certsure) or NAPIT (GOV.UK), you'll be producing certificates for notifiable work. Powered Now is aimed at trades who want certificates alongside quotes and invoices. Check the exact certificate types before you commit.

What to check before you choose

  • Can a job have several visits (first fix, second fix, testing) under one customer?
  • Does it hold property access notes and tenant contacts for agent work?
  • Which certificate types does it produce, and does your scheme accept them?
  • Per-user pricing (Tradify, Powered Now, Fergus) against per-job pricing (ServiceM8).
  • Does the mobile app work without signal in a loft or plant room?

A prompt to start with

Paste this into ChatGPT or Claude, filling in the brackets:

You schedule work for [business name], an electrical contractor in [area]. Here are the jobs for next week with postcodes, hours and any dependencies (for example second fix after plastering on [date]): [paste]. Build a plan by electrician and day, keep linked visits in order, leave [time] free for call-outs, and flag any EICRs due in the next 30 days from this list: [paste].

Questions

Which app is cheapest for a one-person electrical business?

ServiceM8's free plan covers 1 user and 30 jobs a month. Powered Now is £28 a month for one user excluding VAT. Checked 15 October 2026.

Can it remind landlords their EICR is due?

Apps with recurring jobs or service reminders can. Store the inspection date against the property and set the reminder ahead of the 5-year date.

Are these prices in pounds?

Not all. Where a provider only publishes US dollar prices we show dollars, so check the price in pounds at checkout.
