Google Business Profile description generator
Write the description for your Google Business Profile: what you do, where, what makes you different and how long you've been trading. It keeps to Google's 750-character limit, leaves out links, prices and offers, which Google's rules don't allow, and shows a live character count. It runs in your browser and nothing is stored.
How to use it
- Fill in what you do, the area and your main services. Keep services to the ones you want to be found for.
- Add one honest line on what makes you different: how you work, not "best in town".
- Copy the description and paste it into your profile: on Google Search, open your profile, choose Edit profile, then Description. Google reviews changes before they go live.
- Put offers and prices in Google posts instead; turn a finished job into a post with the social post generator.
Worked example
Smith Plumbing in Leeds and Wetherby, trading 12 years, gets: "Smith Plumbing provides plumbing and heating in Leeds and Wetherby, and has done for 12 years. We offer boiler servicing and repairs, bathroom installations and leaks and blocked drains. Family-run, tidy, and we always confirm the price before we start. Gas Safe registered. Free parking at our workshop on Kirkstall Road." That is 322 characters, well inside the 750 limit.
Google's rules behind it
- 750 characters. Google says not to exceed 750 characters in the description, and not to include URLs or HTML code (Google Business Profile Help: edit your profile, checked 17 October 2026).
- No promotions or prices. The description shouldn't focus on special promotions, prices or sales, mustn't display links of any type, and shouldn't use gimmicky characters (Google: guidelines for representing your business).
- Accurate and relevant. Google asks you to be upfront and honest and to keep content relevant to your business. Your business name must be your real-world name, without added keywords.
