How do I use AI meeting notes in Zoom?
Short answer
In Zoom, start your meeting and select the AI Companion button, then choose to start a meeting summary. Zoom writes a summary with next steps and sends it to the host afterwards. Zoom says AI Companion is included at no extra cost with paid Zoom Workplace plans such as Pro. Participants see an icon when it is running.
Step by step
- Sign in to Zoom with a paid account and check AI Companion is enabled in your web settings.
- In the meeting, select AI Companion, then Start summary (some accounts start it automatically).
- Tell participants you are using AI notes.
- After the meeting, find the summary in your email or the Zoom app, edit it and share it.
- During a meeting you can ask AI Companion questions like "What have I missed?"

Consent and privacy
Summaries contain personal data, so tell people, keep notes only as long as needed and avoid recording sensitive HR or medical conversations without a clear reason. See is it legal to record calls with AI?

It is included with paid Zoom Workplace plans at no extra cost. Free Basic accounts have limited or no access, and Zoom changes this from time to time, so check your plan.
Does Zoom use my meetings to train AI?

Can AI Companion take notes if I am not the host?
The host or account admin controls it. Ask the host to turn it on.
