How do I use AI meeting notes in Microsoft Teams?
Short answer
To get AI notes in Microsoft Teams, turn on transcription or recording in the meeting. Afterwards, open the Recap tab for AI notes, tasks and chapters. Intelligent Recap and Copilot in Teams need a Teams Premium or Microsoft 365 Copilot licence on top of a normal business plan. Without one, you still get a transcript.
Step by step
- Start or join a Teams meeting from your work account.
- Select More actions, then Record and transcribe, then Start transcription (or Start recording).
- Tell everyone you are transcribing. Teams also shows a banner.
- After the meeting, open it from the chat or calendar and select Recap.
- With Copilot, ask questions like "What did we agree about the delivery date?"
Microsoft says AI notes appear after a transcribed meeting of at least five minutes.
Which licences you need
- Transcript only: most Microsoft 365 business plans with Teams.
- Intelligent Recap (AI notes, tasks, speaker timelines): Teams Premium or Microsoft 365 Copilot.
- Copilot in meetings: Microsoft 365 Copilot licence. See which Copilot is best for business?
Privacy and consent
