Can I use my ChatGPT plan in other apps with Sign in with ChatGPT?

Last checked: 26 October 2026 · The AI Till, UK

Short answer

Yes, in a small number of apps. If you pay for ChatGPT Go, Plus or Pro, OpenAI now lets some participating apps use your ChatGPT plan for their AI features, instead of you paying the app separately for that AI. It works through a button called Sign in with ChatGPT or Continue with ChatGPT in the other app. The usage comes out of the allowance you already have, not a new one, and you can cap how much each app can use every week. Right now the list is short and mostly coding tools. Notion is the one a typical UK small business is most likely to use. Everything below was checked on OpenAI's help centre, ChatGPT Learn and Notion's help centre on 26 October 2026.

What is Sign in with ChatGPT?

Short answer: a login button that can also let an app use your ChatGPT plan, if you agree.

It's really two things, and you approve them separately:

Sign in onlyUse your ChatGPT plan
Who can use itAnyone with a ChatGPT accountGo, Plus and Pro subscribers
What the app getsYour name, email address and profile picturePermission to count its AI requests against your plan
What it doesn't getYour chats, memories or an API keyYour chats, memories or an API key
Where you manage itSettings > Security and loginSettings > Usage > App limits

OpenAI says eligible requests count toward the ChatGPT Work and Codex usage included in your plan, with no API key needed.

Which apps can use my ChatGPT plan?

Short answer: 12 apps on OpenAI's list, most of them coding tools, plus Notion.

OpenAI's partner directory on ChatGPT Learn, read on 26 October 2026, splits partners into three groups:

  • Apps that can use your ChatGPT plan: Amp Code, Conductor, Dactyl, Devin, Hermes Agent, Hyperagent, Kilo Code, Lovable (marked coming soon), Notion, Vercel, Vorflux and Warp.
  • Sign in only (they don't use your plan): Airtable, Canva, GitLab, HubSpot and Supabase.
  • Open-source tools: OpenClaw, OpenCode, Pi and T3.

So you can log in to Canva or HubSpot with ChatGPT, but their AI doesn't run on your allowance. OpenAI says it launched with a limited set of partners, so check the directory before assuming an app is on it.

Does it work with Notion?

Short answer: yes, but only on a Notion Business or Enterprise workspace.

Notion's help centre says you can connect a ChatGPT Plus, Pro or Go account so that Notion Agent uses your ChatGPT plan instead of your Notion AI credits. The conditions are:

  • Your Notion workspace is on the Business or Enterprise plan.
  • You're a member of the workspace, not a guest.
  • You're using Notion Agent. Custom Agents aren't supported.
  • You pick a specific GPT model in the model picker. If you leave it on Auto or pick a non-GPT model, Notion uses its own credits.

To connect it, go to Settings > Notion AI > Usage and select Connect next to ChatGPT. Each person connects their own account. If your ChatGPT usage runs out, Notion asks you to switch to Notion credits.

If you're on Notion's Free or Plus plan, this doesn't apply to you. Our Notion review and is Notion AI safe? cover the rest.

What does this mean for a UK trade or small business?

Short answer: for most sole traders, very little today. Don't sign up to a new app just for this.

The apps on the list are mainly for software developers and website builders. Unless you already use Notion on a Business plan, or build websites, there's probably nothing to switch on yet. Where it could help:

  • You already pay for ChatGPT Plus and a Notion Business workspace. You could use your ChatGPT allowance for Notion Agent jobs, such as tidying job notes or drafting a client update, and save Notion credits.
  • You're building your own website or booking page with a tool like Lovable or Vercel's v0. Check whether the AI in that tool can run on your plan.
  • Later, as more apps join. Look out for a "Continue with ChatGPT" button in tools you already use.

The app may still charge for its own subscription and premium features.

How do I connect an app to my ChatGPT plan?

Short answer: start in the other app, not in ChatGPT.

  1. Open the participating app and choose Sign in with ChatGPT or Continue with ChatGPT. If you already have an account with the app, look in its account or billing settings for a ChatGPT option.
  2. Sign in to the ChatGPT account you pay for. If you have a personal and a work account, check which one is active.
  3. Review the details the app will receive.
  4. If it's offered, turn on Use your ChatGPT plan. You can leave it off and still sign in.
  5. In ChatGPT, go to Settings > Usage, find the app under App limits and set a weekly limit.

How do I stop one app using up my ChatGPT allowance?

Short answer: set a weekly percentage limit for each app in Settings > Usage.

OpenAI says an app limit is a cap, not a separate pool. Setting Notion to 30% doesn't reserve 30% for Notion, and it doesn't add to your total. It just stops that app using more than 30% of your weekly ChatGPT usage. ChatGPT Learn shows limits in steps from 10% to 100%.

If you rely on ChatGPT daily for quotes and replies, start each app low. Our guide to ChatGPT Plus limits explains how the overall allowance works.

Can this cost me extra money?

Short answer: it can, if you allow credits and have automatic credit purchases on.

When you reach your plan limits, an app can carry on using ChatGPT credits, but only if you've switched on the setting that lets apps use credits. That setting is off by default, and it only works for an app whose limit is set to 100%. OpenAI warns that if automatic credit purchases are turned on, continued usage can lead to automatic charges, and you may not get a separate notice when your included usage runs out. Before you turn on credit use, check your automatic purchase settings.

Limits and risks

  • Short partner list. Commercial support is limited to selected partners for now. Most are coding tools.
  • Usage rates differ. OpenAI says usage rates may differ between an app and ChatGPT, and how fast you use your allowance depends on the app and task. Watch Settings > Usage for the first week.
  • One person, one plan. Your plan is still for you alone. It isn't a way to share Plus with staff. See can more than one person use ChatGPT Plus?.
  • Signing out isn't disconnecting. OpenAI says signing out of the app doesn't stop its authorised use of your plan. Disconnect it in ChatGPT instead (below).
  • Customer data. The app's own privacy terms apply to what you put into it. Only connect apps you trust, and keep customer details to a minimum. See can I put customer data into ChatGPT?.

To disconnect an app, go to Settings > Security and login > Login connections > Sign in with ChatGPT, pick the app and select Disconnect. Disconnecting doesn't reverse usage already recorded, and deleting data the app holds is a separate request to the app.

If you're still choosing a plan, compare ChatGPT Go, whether Plus is worth it and what ChatGPT costs in the UK. If most of your AI use is quotes, invoices and customer messages, the AI Till Trades Pack is our own product: 40 prompts for UK trades plus editable Word templates that work with any AI plan, including the free one.

Related questions

Can I use my ChatGPT Plus subscription in other apps?

Yes, in participating apps only. OpenAI's directory lists 12 apps that can use your plan, including Notion, Devin, Vercel and Warp. Usage comes out of your normal Plus allowance.

Does Sign in with ChatGPT work on the free plan?

Anyone can use it to sign in to a participating app. Letting the app use your ChatGPT plan needs Go, Plus or Pro.

Does signing in share my ChatGPT chats with the app?

No. Signing in shares your name, email address and profile picture. OpenAI says using your plan doesn't by itself give the app your conversations or memories, and doesn't share an API key.

Why does the app say my account isn't eligible?

Check you're signed in to the right ChatGPT account and that it's on Go, Plus or Pro. The app may also offer this only on some of its own plans. For Notion, that means Business or Enterprise. Buying credits doesn't make an account eligible.

What happens when I hit my limit?

The app stops using your plan until the limit resets. It only carries on with credits if you allowed apps to use credits and set that app's limit to 100%. Retrying or signing in again doesn't restore usage.
