Can ChatGPT Plus make videos?
Short answer
No. ChatGPT Plus can't make videos itself. OpenAI's video tool, Sora, closed its app and website on 26 April 2026 and its API on 24 September 2026, so no ChatGPT plan now includes OpenAI video generation. ChatGPT can still write scripts, shot lists and captions, and make still images.
What happened to Sora
Sora was included with Plus and Pro when it launched, although it was never available in the UK at launch. OpenAI's help centre says the web and app experiences were discontinued on 26 April 2026 and the API on 24 September 2026. If you made videos with it, OpenAI pointed users to an export page, and it says Sora data is permanently deleted after any final export window. Purchased credits can still be used for Codex.
What to use instead
- Let ChatGPT plan, then film it yourself. For trades and local businesses, a 30-second phone video of real work beats AI footage. Ask ChatGPT for a script, a shot list and captions.
- Third-party plugins. Some video companies offer plugins inside ChatGPT. The video is made by their service, and you need an account with them and pay their prices.

No, not since Sora closed. OpenAI's pricing page lists image creation, not video, for every plan.
