Can ChatGPT make a PowerPoint presentation?
Short answer
Yes. Ask ChatGPT to create a presentation and name the format as .pptx, and it will build a file you can download and open in PowerPoint. OpenAI also has a ChatGPT for PowerPoint add-in that works inside PowerPoint, and ChatGPT Work can create or edit Google Slides. Always check the facts, layout and branding before presenting.
Three ways to do it
- In a chat: "Create a 10-slide .pptx pitching our window cleaning service to letting agents. British English, one idea per slide, speaker notes included." Then download the file.
- Inside PowerPoint: add ChatGPT from Home, then Add-ins, sign in, and ask it to draft or edit slides in your existing deck while keeping your template.
- With ChatGPT Work: attach source material or a template and ask for a deck in Google Slides or as a file.
Tips for a better deck
- Give it your source material: notes, a price list or last year's figures.
- Say who the audience is and how long you have to present.
- Ask for a plan of slides first, then the file.
- Tell it what to keep, such as your colours, logo and slide order.
