Best AI tools for bathroom fitters (UK): quotes, stages and admin

The best AI tools for a UK bathroom fitter are the ones that keep a household without a working shower informed and keep three or four trades in the right order. That means a job app that handles quotes and stage payments, a free AI assistant for daily updates, and solid books for CIS. This guide also covers what changes when the job is an accessible bathroom funded by a grant. It sits under our AI tools for plumbers and heating engineers hub; for the plumbing side, see best AI tools for plumbers.

Every price below came from the provider's own pricing page between 15 and 18 October 2026. Dollar prices move with the exchange rate. No tool paid to appear and none of the links earn us money (how we make money).

The no-shower problem: updates that prevent complaints

Most bathroom complaints aren't about the finish. They're about not knowing when the toilet or shower will work again. Before you start, send a one-page plan: strip-out day, first fix, plastering or boarding, tiling, second fix, and the day water is back on. Then send a two-line text at the end of each day.

AI is quick at this. Paste your rough notes ("boarded walls, tanking tomorrow, tiler Weds, toilet back on tonight") into ChatGPT and ask for a friendly two-line update in British English. Keep a saved prompt that always says which facilities work tonight. If a delay happens (a wrong tile batch, a hidden leak), send the update the same day with the new date.

Quoting a bathroom: stages and who supplies what

Split the quote into the stages above, and state who supplies the suite, brassware, tiles and adhesive. Customers who buy their own tiles often under-order, so say how many square metres you need including cuts. Take a deposit and stage payments using our stage payment schedule and deposit request generator. If you agree the job in the customer's home, they have 14 days to cancel; the deposit generator explains what to include.

Powered Now and ServiceM8 both turn a quote into a job, a job sheet and an invoice from your phone, so the price you agreed is the price you bill.

Accessible bathrooms and Disabled Facilities Grants

Level-access showers and downstairs bathrooms are steady work, often paid for by a council grant. GOV.UK says a Disabled Facilities Grant can be up to £30,000 in England, £36,000 in Wales and £25,000 in Northern Ireland; it isn't available in Scotland, which has separate support (GOV.UK, checked 18 October 2026). The council decides the grant, and the customer may have to contribute depending on income.

For these jobs, AI helps with the paperwork: a clear written specification, a quote laid out the way the council asks for it, and plain-English updates for the customer and their family. It can't decide what adaptation someone needs; that's for the council's assessment.

Electrics, gas and the building regulations

GOV.UK says replacing baths, toilets, basins and sinks doesn't need building regulations approval, and nor do new power and lighting points or changes to existing circuits, except around baths and showers (GOV.UK, checked 18 October 2026). So an electric shower circuit, lighting in the shower area or a new extractor fan circuit needs an electrician registered with a competent person scheme, or building control. Moving or replacing a gas boiler needs a Gas Safe registered engineer (HSE).

Old bathrooms: asbestos and the skip

Textured ceilings, old floor tiles and boxing can contain asbestos in homes built before 2000. HSE says to stop, confirm what it is or assume it is asbestos, and do a risk assessment (HSE asbestos FAQs). No AI tool can identify it from a photo.

Taking the old suite away? GOV.UK says businesses that transport waste must register as a waste carrier; registration is usually free if you only carry waste you produce yourself, and otherwise costs £191.02 (GOV.UK, checked 18 October 2026).

CIS when you fit for builders or showrooms

HMRC's CIS manual lists installing fitted bathrooms as within CIS, and lists kitchen and bathroom fitting among finishing operations (CISR14150, CISR14240). If a builder or showroom pays you as a subcontractor, check each payment statement with our CIS calculator. Direct work for homeowners isn't under CIS.

FAQ

What is the best app for a bathroom fitter?

For a sole trader, ServiceM8's free plan (1 user, 30 jobs a month) covers quotes, jobs and invoices. Powered Now Business was £28 a month excl. VAT for one user when we checked, with an optional AI receptionist add-on.

Do I need building regulations approval to replace a bathroom?

Not for replacing the bath, toilet, basin or sink, according to GOV.UK. Electrical changes around the bath or shower are not exempt, so use a registered electrician.

How much is a Disabled Facilities Grant?

GOV.UK says up to £30,000 in England, £36,000 in Wales and £25,000 in Northern Ireland. The council decides each grant.

Do I need a waste carrier registration to take away an old bathroom?

Yes, if your business transports waste. GOV.UK says it's usually free if you only carry waste you produce yourself, and £191.02 otherwise.

Can ChatGPT write my customer updates?

Yes. Give it your notes and ask for a short, friendly text that says what's done, what's next and which facilities work tonight. Check the dates before you send.
