How do I add an AI chatbot to my website?

Steps

1. Check whether your website builder or booking system already has AI chat.
2. If not, choose a live chat tool with an AI assistant and a free trial.
3. Feed it your FAQs, services, areas covered, opening hours and booking link.
4. Set clear limits: no quotes for non-standard jobs, no legal or safety advice.
5. Add the widget with the snippet or plugin.
6. Test it with 20 real customer questions and fix wrong answers.
7. Label it as AI and offer "talk to a person".

Privacy

If the chatbot collects names, numbers or messages, you're responsible under UK GDPR. Update your privacy notice, choose a provider with a clear data processing agreement, and don't ask for more than you need. See is ChatGPT GDPR compliant?

Is it worth it?

For businesses with many repeat questions, yes. For a one-person trade, a good FAQ page and an AI receptionist may do more.
