How can personal trainers use AI?
Short answer
UK personal trainers can use AI to draft training programmes you then adapt, write client check-in messages, plan social content, answer enquiries and handle booking admin. It saves hours on writing. Don't let it give medical or diet advice to clients with health conditions, and keep health information out of consumer chat accounts.
Where AI helps
- Programme drafts: ask for a 4-week beginner strength plan, three sessions a week, no barbell. Then adjust it for the actual client.
- Check-ins: friendly weekly check-in messages and progress summaries.
- Content: a month of post ideas, captions and short video scripts. See ChatGPT prompts for personal trainers.
- Enquiries and bookings: reply templates, cancellation policy wording and reminder texts.
Health data
Injury, medical and health details are special category data under UK GDPR, which needs extra care. Keep them in your client app, not in a personal ChatGPT history. See can I put customer data into ChatGPT?
Limits
AI programmes can be generic or unsafe for someone with an injury, pregnancy or a heart condition. Your qualifications and screening come first. Nutrition plans for medical conditions belong with a registered dietitian or GP.
