Can ChatGPT make and read Excel spreadsheets?
Short answer
Yes. ChatGPT can read Excel files you upload, build new spreadsheets with formulas and charts, and work directly inside Excel and Google Sheets through the ChatGPT for Excel add-in. OpenAI says the add-in is available on Free, Go, Plus, Pro and Business plans. Always check its formulas before you rely on the numbers.

How to get good results
- Say what to change and what to leave alone: "Update the Inputs tab only. Don't change formatting."
- Ask for a plan before big edits.
- Duplicate the file first so you can go back.
Limits
OpenAI lists features the add-in doesn't support yet, including macros and VBA, Power Query and some pivot features. Very large workbooks may not fit, giving partial answers. Spreadsheet chats are kept separate from your main ChatGPT history.
Data
