Best AI tools for salons and hairdressers (UK): booking, no-shows and admin
These are the best AI tools for salons, hairdressers and barbers in the UK, picked job by job: online booking, no-shows and deposits, missed calls, staff and tips, reviews and social posts. It sits under our best AI tools for tradesmen hub and links to the AI for hair and beauty hub. In a salon, the booking app does most of the heavy lifting; AI fills the gaps with messages, captions and replies.
Prices checked: 15 to 17 October 2026 on each provider's own page (the same figures as our tools directory). Some companies price in US dollars, so the pound cost moves with the exchange rate.

For a chair renter or solo stylist, Fresha's Independent plan or Booksy's flat price are the usual comparison; for a salon with several stylists, work out the per-person cost. Marketplace fees only apply to new clients who find you through the app's marketplace, so check how many of your bookings that would be. Compare all booking tools: best booking apps. No-shows and deposits
Deposits and cancellation fees cut no-shows, but keep them fair. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 lists, as a term that may be unfair, one requiring a consumer who doesn't go ahead to pay a disproportionately high sum in compensation or for services not supplied (Schedule 2, paragraph 5), and unfair terms aren't binding on the consumer (section 62). Write a clear, fair policy with the cancellation policy generator, which flags fees that look high. AI can also write reminder texts; prompts: ChatGPT prompts for salons.
Missed calls
Stylists can't answer the phone mid-colour. A booking link in your voicemail, Instagram bio and Google profile handles most enquiries; an AI receptionist can answer the rest, take the service wanted and preferred times, and text the client your booking link. Staff, tips and hiring
- Tips. GOV.UK says all tips must be passed to workers without deductions, and a statutory code of practice covers written policies and records (GOV.UK: tips at work, checked 17 October 2026).
- Pay. From 1 April 2026 the National Living Wage is £12.71 an hour for workers aged 21 and over (GOV.UK). Apprentices have a lower rate.
- Self-employed chair renters. Check employment status with HMRC's status checker.
Write adverts with the job advert generator, which flags pay below £12.71 and wording to avoid.
Treatments with age limits
In England it's an offence to give botulinum toxin or cosmetic fillers to under-18s for cosmetic purposes, or for a business to arrange it (Botulinum Toxin and Cosmetic Fillers (Children) Act 2021), and a sunbed business in England or Wales must make sure no one under 18 uses a sunbed on its premises (Sunbeds (Regulation) Act 2010). If an AI receptionist or chatbot takes bookings for these, make sure it asks for age and passes the booking to a person to check.
Reviews and social posts
Before-and-after photos and short reels are a salon's best marketing; always get the client's permission. Turn each look into a caption with the social post generator, and reply to reviews with the review reply generator. Marketing texts and emails need the client's consent, apart from the limited soft opt-in for your own previous customers (ICO). Guides: reviews for salons, social for salons.

FAQ
What is the best booking app for a UK salon?
It depends on size. Fresha Independent ($19.95 a month) and Booksy (£40 + VAT, all features) suit solo stylists and small salons; Timely charges per staff member. Watch marketplace fees on new clients with Fresha and Booksy's Boost.
What is the best AI tool for hairdressers?
A booking app with automatic reminders does most of the work. Add ChatGPT for captions, deposit policies and replies, Canva for posts, and an AI receptionist if the phone rings while you're with clients.
Can a salon charge a no-show fee?
Yes, if it's in your booking terms and it's fair. A fee that's disproportionately high compared with your loss may be an unfair term that the client doesn't have to pay.
Do salons have to pass on tips?
Yes. GOV.UK says all tips must be passed to workers without deductions, and a statutory code of practice covers written tipping policies and records.
Is there free software for salons?
Calendly Free for a simple diary, Zoho Books Free, Canva Free, Buffer Free and Smith.ai's 25 free calls a month. Our review reply, social post and job advert generators are free.
