Best AI tools for personal trainers (UK): clients, bookings and ads
These are the best AI tools for personal trainers and fitness instructors in the UK, picked job by job: coaching apps and AI workout builders, bookings and session packs, health questionnaires, marketing that follows the advertising rules, music for classes, and accounts. It links to the AI for personal trainers and gyms hub and sits alongside our best AI tools for tradesmen and free AI tools for small business guides. For a PT, AI is most useful for programming drafts, check-ins and marketing copy; your judgement on the client in front of you still comes first.
Prices checked: 14 to 17 October 2026 on each provider's own page. Most fitness apps price in US dollars, so the pound cost moves with the exchange rate.

Coaching apps and AI workout builders
ABC Trainerize has a permanent free plan for one coaching client, and its paid plans add an AI Workout Builder, custom programmes, meal and macro tracking and integrations with wearables. When we checked on 17 October 2026, its pricing page showed Grow at $9 a month in the plan table and $10 a month in its FAQ, and Pro 5 at $23 and $25, all in US dollars, with paid add-ons from $10 a month (Trainerize pricing). Check the figure at checkout. Treat any AI-built programme as a first draft: check the exercises, loads and progressions against what you know about the client.
Bookings and session packs
Calendly's free plan handles a simple booking link. Trainerize also lists appointments, classes and session packs (some scheduling and selling features need its Business add-on, $25 a month), so you may not need a separate booking tool once you're on it. Keep your terms fair: the Consumer Rights Act 2015 lists, as a term that may be unfair, one requiring a consumer who decides not to go ahead to pay a disproportionately high sum in compensation or for services not supplied (Schedule 2, paragraph 5). Our cancellation policy generator writes a short late-cancellation and no-show policy and flags fees that look high.
Health questionnaires and client data
The ICO says health data, including injuries, medical history and data from fitness trackers, is special category data. To use it you need both a lawful basis and a separate condition, such as explicit consent (ICO, checked 15 October 2026). AI can write the questionnaire layout and your privacy wording, but never paste a client's health answers, injuries or medication into a chatbot. Prompts: ChatGPT prompts for personal trainers.
Ads and social posts
- The CAP Code says ads must not claim people can lose precise amounts of weight within a stated period, or lose weight or fat from specific parts of the body, and ads for intensive exercise programmes should encourage people to check with a doctor first (ASA: CAP Code rule 13.1).
- Testimonials must be genuine, with signed and dated proof and the person's permission. For people who are overweight, a rate of more than 2lb (just under 1kg) a week is unlikely to be acceptable (ASA: weight control testimonials).
Tell your AI tool these rules in the prompt, and check every claim before posting. Turn sessions and results (with permission) into posts with the social post generator, and write your Google profile's description with the Google Business Profile description generator.
Music in classes
If you play music in classes at a venue such as a church hall or community centre, PPL PRS says you'll need TheMusicLicence. Its example for a fitness instructor running three classes a week for 50 weeks is £345 a year, or £2.30 a class, plus VAT (its figure correct as of July 2026) (PPL PRS). Check whether your streaming service allows commercial use.
Accounts and tax
Most PTs start as sole traders. Register by 5 October after the end of the tax year you started (GOV.UK), estimate your bill with the self-employed tax calculator, and check whether the trading allowance is better than claiming expenses if you train part-time. FreeAgent is free with some business bank accounts; Zoho Books has a free plan.

FAQ
What is the best app for personal trainers in the UK?
For coaching clients remotely, ABC Trainerize is a common choice, with a free plan for one client and paid plans that add an AI Workout Builder. For bookings only, Calendly's free plan is enough to start.
Can AI write workout plans for clients?
It can draft one quickly, and Trainerize includes an AI Workout Builder on paid plans. Check every exercise, load and progression yourself, especially for clients with injuries or health conditions.
Can I put client health information into ChatGPT?
Don't. The ICO treats health data, including injuries and fitness tracker data, as special category data with extra rules. Keep it in your coaching app or records, not in a chatbot.
What can personal trainers say in weight-loss ads?
Don't promise precise weight loss in a set time or spot reduction from one part of the body. Testimonials must be genuine with permission, and the ASA says more than 2lb a week is unlikely to be acceptable for people who are overweight.
Do I need a music licence for fitness classes?
If you play music in classes at a venue such as a church hall, PPL PRS says you need TheMusicLicence. Its example for three classes a week is £345 a year plus VAT.
