Does WhatsApp have AI?
Short answer
Yes. WhatsApp has Meta AI built in: you can chat with it, mention @Meta AI in a group, or ask it from the search bar. It can't be removed, but Meta says it only reads messages shared with it. For businesses, Meta is rolling out Meta Business Agent, which answers customers in the WhatsApp Business app.

AI for WhatsApp Business
- Meta Business Agent answers customer chats in the WhatsApp Business app, learns from information you give it, and can connect to Google Calendar and Google Drive. WhatsApp says it's available only in limited countries to select businesses, with a waitlist. Greeting and away messages switch off when it's on.
- Meta AI business assistant helps you, the owner, inside the app's search bar.
- Muse, Meta's separate AI agent, can be chatted with through WhatsApp in some countries. It's free with a usage limit and paid for more.
Before you let AI answer customers

You can't remove it completely. You can ignore it, and turn on Restricted chat in individual or group chats to block AI features there.

If Meta Business Agent is offered to you, set it up from the WhatsApp Business app's tools; otherwise join the waitlist. Larger firms connect AI through the WhatsApp Business Platform, usually via a software provider.
Is Meta AI in WhatsApp safe?
Don't share anything with it you wouldn't want Meta to keep and use. Your normal chats remain end-to-end encrypted.
