How do I contact ChatGPT customer service?
Short answer
Use the chat bubble at the bottom right of help.openai.com. You'll talk to OpenAI's virtual assistant first, and a human agent can join if it can't solve the problem. OpenAI lists an automated phone line for the US, Canada and Australia only, and that line can't connect you to a person. We found no UK phone number for support.
How to get help faster
OpenAI asks you to include:
- a clear description of the problem and the steps that led to it,
- the email address you sign in with and your plan (never your password or a one-time code),
- the date and time it happened, with your time zone,
- screenshots, with personal or sensitive details removed,
- your workspace name or ID if you're on ChatGPT Business.
Check status.openai.com first in case there's an outage.
Common problems

- Charged but still on Free: sign in with the same method you used to pay (Google, Apple, Microsoft or email). For app subscriptions, use Restore purchases in the app.
- Refunds: OpenAI's help article on Plus explains how to request one.

Beware fake support numbers
Search results and social media sometimes show "ChatGPT support" phone numbers that aren't OpenAI's. OpenAI has a help article on verifying communications from it. Don't give anyone remote access to your computer or your card details over the phone.
