How much is CapCut in the UK?
Short answer
CapCut is free to download and use for basic video editing. On the UK App Store, a Standard subscription costs £10.99 a month, Pro costs £21.99 a month and a yearly subscription costs £99.99 (checked 18 October 2026). Paid plans unlock more AI features, effects, cloud storage and exports without the free plan's limits.
CapCut UK prices (18 October 2026)
| Option | UK App Store price | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Free | £0 | Editing, captions, templates and some AI tools with limits |
| Standard Monthly | £10.99 a month | More premium features and storage |
| Pro Monthly | £21.99 a month | The full set of premium effects and AI tools |
| Yearly | £99.99 a year | Annual subscription, cheaper than paying monthly |
| Credits | From £1.19 | Pay as you go for some AI features |
These are the in-app prices that ByteDance, CapCut's developer, lists on the UK App Store. Prices on the CapCut website and in Google Play can differ, and CapCut regularly runs trial offers, so check the price on the payment screen before you confirm.
Is CapCut AI free?
Partly. The free version includes auto captions, basic templates and some AI effects, but many AI tools, such as some background removal, AI avatars, script to video and premium voices, either need a paid plan or use credits. CapCut moves features between free and paid fairly often, so a tool you used free last month may now show a Pro badge.
What a small business actually needs
Most UK small businesses use CapCut for short social clips: a before and after of a job, a product demo, or a quick tip with captions. For that:
- Start on the free plan and make five or six real videos.
- Note which features keep showing a Pro badge. If it is only one effect, you can probably work around it.
- If you post several times a week, the yearly plan at £99.99 works out at about £8.33 a month, cheaper than either monthly plan.
- Pay through the same store each time. Subscriptions bought through Apple must be cancelled in your Apple ID settings, not in CapCut.
A worked example
A plasterer posts two short reels a week showing finished walls. He needs auto captions, his logo and a royalty free backing track. The free plan covers captions and basic editing. If he wants premium templates and to remove limits on exports, the yearly plan costs £99.99, which comes to under £2 a video at his posting rate. If he is VAT registered he should keep the App Store receipt, because Apple's receipts show VAT. See do AI subscriptions charge UK VAT?
Things to check before you pay
- Commercial use of music and effects: some sounds in CapCut's library are licensed for personal use only. For business ads, use the commercial library or your own music.
- Your footage and data: CapCut is owned by ByteDance, which also owns TikTok. Read the privacy policy and avoid uploading client footage that shows faces, addresses or number plates without permission. See what is UK GDPR?
- Account type: if a team edits videos, check whether you need CapCut's business or team options rather than sharing one login.
- Alternatives: Canva and Adobe Express both edit short video and may already be in your toolkit. See how much is Adobe Firefly in the UK? and how much does an AI video generator cost?
Common mistakes
- Signing up for a free trial and forgetting it renews at the monthly rate.
- Paying monthly for a year when the yearly plan is cheaper.
- Using a trending sound in a paid advert without checking the licence.
- Cancelling inside the app and assuming the Apple subscription has stopped.
