What happened to OpenAI Operator, and can it run on premises?

What replaced Operator

ChatGPT agent combined Operator's ability to click, type and browse with deep research and ChatGPT's tools. OpenAI's help centre now says ChatGPT agent is no longer available. For longer, multi-step tasks it points users to ChatGPT Work, and for supported web tasks to the cloud browser in ChatGPT. Both run in OpenAI's cloud, not on your own computer. Can it run on my own servers?

No. Neither Operator, ChatGPT agent nor ChatGPT Work has been offered as on-premises software. Businesses that need AI to stay inside their own network usually look at:

• Running open-weight models on their own hardware or a private cloud.
• Enterprise plans with data residency options, such as ChatGPT Enterprise in Europe.

Are OpenAI's agents safe for business tasks?
