How much does Claude Code cost?
Short answer
Claude Code is not sold separately. It comes with every paid Claude plan: Pro at $20 a month ($17 billed yearly) and Max from $100 a month, according to Anthropic's pricing page (checked 18 October 2026). On the UK App Store, Pro costs £20 a month. The free Claude plan does not include Claude Code.

How the limits work
Anthropic says chats on the web, desktop and mobile apps and Claude Code all draw from one pool, with limits that reset every five hours plus weekly caps on paid plans. Heavy coding days can hit the Pro limit. When you do, you can wait, upgrade to Max or turn on usage credits at API rates.
One catch: if your computer has an Anthropic API key set, Claude Code uses that key and bills the API instead of your subscription.
Is Claude Code safe?
Claude Code can read and edit files and run commands on your computer, so it asks for permission before risky actions. Keep it to a project folder, review changes before you accept them and use version control. Do not paste passwords or customer data into it. See does Claude use my data for training?

Is Claude Code worth it for a small business?
If you or a developer write code or scripts regularly, Pro is a low-cost way to try it. Non-coders may get more from Claude Cowork.
Did Anthropic remove Claude Code from Pro?
In April 2026 Anthropic tested removing it for a small share of new sign-ups. Its pricing page still lists Claude Code on Pro as of 18 October 2026.
