AI EV charger installation tools for electricians in the UK
EV charger work is a steady line for domestic electricians, but each job carries more admin than a typical circuit: a survey of the supply and parking, grant eligibility checks, charger model rules, notification and handover paperwork. Job management apps and AI assistants help with the survey, quote, grant documents and customer questions, so the install day is the simple part.
Prices were re-checked on each provider's own page; the date is next to each one. Rules and figures from GOV.UK are linked where they're used.
Grants and OZEV authorisation
For flat owners and renters with private off-street parking, the EV chargepoint grant pays 75% of buying and installing a socket, up to £500. The customer applies with a dated quote from an OZEV-authorised installer; once approved, the installer claims the grant and OZEV pays the installer directly (GOV.UK). Businesses can use the Workplace Charging Scheme: up to 75%, capped at £350 per socket and 40 sockets (GOV.UK). You must be authorised before the install date to claim (GOV.UK).
Survey and quote
Most EV quotes depend on what you find on survey: the incoming supply, the consumer unit, earthing arrangements, cable route and where the car parks. Take photos and notes into a job app such as ServiceM8 (free for 1 user and 30 jobs a month) or Tradify (from £34 per user a month), so the quote and grant paperwork come from the same record (checked 15 October 2026). If the grant covers part of the cost, show the full price, the grant and the customer's balance on the quote.
Charger rules, notification and handover
Charge points sold for home or workplace use in Great Britain since 30 June 2022 must meet the Smart Charge Points Regulations 2021, including smart functionality (GOV.UK), so check the model before you quote it. Approved Document P explains when electrical work in a home must be notified (GOV.UK); competent person scheme members can self-certify (GOV.UK). ChatGPT can draft a plain-English handover sheet on using the app and off-peak scheduling; check it against the manufacturer's instructions.

What to check before you choose
- Can the app store survey photos and notes against the job?
- Can a quote show the grant deduction and the customer's balance?
- Does it produce certificates, or will you use separate software?
- Per-user (Tradify, Powered Now) or per-job (ServiceM8) pricing?
- Jobber prices in US dollars.
A prompt to start with
Paste this into ChatGPT or Claude, filling in the brackets:
You're helping me write a quote for an EV charger installation for [customer name] at [address]. Survey notes: supply [details], consumer unit [details], earthing [details], cable route [length and route], parking [details], charger model [model]. Write a clear quote listing the work, the price before any grant, the OZEV grant if they're eligible ([amount]), the balance, what the customer needs to provide for the grant application, and what's excluded. Plain British English, no technical promises I haven't made.

Questions
How much is the EV charger grant for flats and renters?
75% of the cost of buying and installing a socket, up to £500, according to GOV.UK. It's for flat owners and renters with private off-street parking.
Who claims the EV chargepoint grant?
The OZEV-authorised installer claims it once the work is finished, and OZEV pays the installer directly.
Do I need to be OZEV-authorised?
Only to install under the OZEV grant schemes. Installations before your authorisation date aren't eligible.
Are these prices in pounds?
Not all. Where a provider only publishes US dollar prices we show dollars, so check the price in pounds at checkout.
