GetResponse review UK: prices, free trial and catches
GetResponse is email marketing software. You build a list, send newsletters and offers, set up automatic emails (such as a welcome series), and make landing pages and sign-up forms. This review is for UK trades, shops and other small businesses weighing it up against the cheaper and free options. Prices and features come from GetResponse's pricing page, read on 17 October 2026.
We don't use GetResponse ourselves. Our daily email runs on beehiiv, so this review is based on what GetResponse publishes and how it fits a UK small business.
Affiliate note: we've applied to join GetResponse's affiliate programme. If we're accepted, the GetResponse links on this page may become affiliate links, which could earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. It won't change what we say here. See how we make money.
The short version
- 14-day free trial of the paid features, no card needed. After that you keep a limited free account unless you upgrade.
- Paid plans start at $19 a month (Starter, 1,000 contacts, paying monthly). The page showed €16 a month when viewed in euros.
- No pounds: GetResponse says you'll be charged in US dollars or euros, plus any applicable taxes.
- Every plan has unlimited email sends. You pay by the size of your list.
- Best for: a business that wants automated email sequences, landing pages and sign-up forms in one place, and is happy to pay for them.
- Less good for: a trade that sends one email a month to a few hundred customers. A free plan elsewhere will do that.
What it costs
GetResponse showed us prices in US dollars on one visit and euros on another; which you see seems to depend on where you're browsing from. Prices for 1,000 contacts, 17 October 2026:
| Plan | Paying monthly (USD) | Billed yearly (USD) | Paying monthly (EUR) | Billed yearly (EUR) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $19 a month | $15.58 a month | €16 a month | €13.12 a month |
| Marketer | $59 a month | $48.38 a month | €54 a month | €44.28 a month |
| Creator | $69 a month | $56.58 a month | €62 a month | €50.84 a month |
| Enterprise | Custom pricing |
Paying yearly saves 18%, and you pay the full year in advance. Prices rise with your list: Starter at 2,500 contacts was $29 a month (€27) paying monthly. The full table up to 100,000 contacts is on GetResponse's pricing page.
VAT: the page says prices are net amounts, excluding any applicable taxes, so expect VAT to be added for a UK business. Because you're billed in dollars or euros, your card provider may also add a foreign transaction fee. Charities and NGOs get 50% off monthly plans.
What each plan includes
Starter: unlimited sends, a welcome email series, 1 custom automation workflow, a landing page builder, sign-up forms and popups, 3 users, and a free custom domain on the yearly plan. The AI email and subject line generators are limited to 3 uses.
Marketer adds: unlimited automation workflows, contact tagging and scoring, A/B testing, abandoned cart emails, sales funnels, promo codes, web push notifications, chat on your pages and 5 users.
Creator adds: a website builder, webinars (up to 100 attendees), online courses and paid newsletters.
Enterprise only: SMS marketing, transactional emails and phone support.
The free trial and free account
For the first 14 days you get the premium features. After that, GetResponse's FAQ says you lose them but can keep using a free account with limits: a GetResponse badge on every message, landing pages capped at 1,000 unique visitors a month, and webinars limited to 10 people. The pricing page doesn't state a contact limit for the free account, so check inside the account before you build a list around it.
The catches
- Billed in dollars or euros, not pounds, with VAT on top.
- Starter's automation is thin. One custom workflow and 3 AI uses. Most of what makes GetResponse different starts on Marketer at $59 a month.
- No SMS below Enterprise. If you want texts as well as emails, Brevo does both.
- Downgrades go through support. The FAQ says you upgrade yourself, but moving to a cheaper plan or from yearly to monthly needs a support request.
- No phone support below Enterprise; chat and email only.
GetResponse against the alternatives

Who you can email
The software doesn't change the UK rules. Under PECR you need consent to send marketing emails to individuals, unless the soft opt-in covers your own past customers, and sole traders count as individuals. Don't upload a bought or scraped list. Our newsletter guide sets out the ICO's guidance.
Who it suits
- Suits: a shop, salon or service business that wants automatic follow-ups (a welcome series, a reminder before a service is due, a thank-you after a purchase), landing pages for offers, and is prepared to pay for Marketer.
- Less good for: a sole trader who just wants a simple monthly email. Kit, Brevo or beehiiv's free plans cover that at no cost.
Trying it
Try it: GetResponse has a 14-day free trial with no card needed. Import only contacts you're allowed to email, set up one welcome email, and see whether you'd use the automation before choosing a plan.
AI can draft the emails themselves. Try this in ChatGPT or Claude:
Write a 3-email welcome series for new subscribers to my [trade or shop] in [town]. Email 1: thanks and what they'll get. Email 2, three days later: one useful seasonal tip. Email 3, a week later: how to book or buy. British English, friendly and plain, under 120 words each, no hype.
Read each one through and check every claim before it goes out.
