ChatGPT prompts for plumbers and heating engineers (UK)
These prompts cover the messages plumbers and heating engineers write every week: landlord gas safety reminders, boiler quotes, heat pump enquiries, emergency call-out charges. Fill in the [brackets], paste into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, and check the draft before sending. AI tools can get technical and grant details wrong, so check every figure and date yourself. Rules and grants below were checked on GOV.UK on 15 October 2026.

Landlord gas safety
GOV.UK says landlords must have a Gas Safe registered engineer do an annual gas safety check on each appliance and flue, and give tenants a copy of the record before they move in or within 28 days of the check (GOV.UK: private renting).
1. Landlord gas safety check reminder
Write a short email to landlord [name] reminding them the gas safety check at [property area] is due by [date] (last done [date]). Offer two dates, my price of [£amount] for [number] appliances, and say I'll send the record straight after so they can give the tenant a copy within 28 days. British spelling, under 120 words.
2. Arrange access with a tenant
Write a polite text to the tenant at [property area] asking to arrange the annual gas safety check on behalf of their landlord [name]. Offer [date and time options], say how long it takes ([minutes]) and what I need access to (boiler, hob, any fires). Under 300 characters, British spelling.
3. Explain an unsafe appliance to a customer
I've found [fault] on [appliance] at [property] and classified it as [classification]. Write a calm, plain-English message to [customer/landlord] explaining what I found, what I've done ([turned off/disconnected/labelled]), why they mustn't use it, and my quote of [£amount] to fix or replace it. Factual, no scare tactics, British spelling, under 180 words.
Quotes
4. Boiler replacement quote with options
Write the description section of a boiler replacement quote for [customer] at [area]. Give three options: [option 1 with price], [option 2 with price], [option 3 with price]. For each, list the boiler, warranty length, controls, system clean and filter, flue, and removal of the old boiler. End with what's not included ([list]). Plain English for a homeowner, British spelling.
5. Reply to a heat pump enquiry
A homeowner in [town] asks about replacing their [gas/oil/LPG] boiler with an air source heat pump. Write a helpful reply explaining: the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant of £7,500 towards an air source heat pump in England and Wales, the extra £1,500 until March 2027 if the home is heated by oil or LPG with no mains gas, that the property owner must be replacing a fossil fuel system, and that I'd need a survey to size it. Offer survey dates. British spelling, under 200 words, no promises about running costs.
Grant amounts and eligibility are from GOV.UK: Boiler Upgrade Scheme. The installation must be commissioned within 120 days of the grant application.
6. Follow up a boiler quote
Write a short text to [customer name] following up my boiler quote of [£amount] sent on [date]. Mention the warranty ([years]), that I can fit it in [timeframe], and offer to answer questions by phone. Under 300 characters, British spelling, no false deadlines.
Call-outs and jobs
7. Explain an emergency call-out charge
A customer has questioned my emergency call-out bill of [£amount] for [job] at [time/day]. Write a polite reply explaining my out-of-hours rate ([£amount for first hour], [£amount after]), that it was stated when they booked ([how]), and what the work included. Not defensive, British spelling, under 150 words.
8. Notes for an insurance claim after a leak
Turn my notes into a clear, factual report a customer can send to their home insurer about a leak at [address area]: [paste notes: cause, location, what I found, what I repaired, parts used, photos taken]. Include date and time attended and that I'm a plumber, not a loss adjuster. Neutral tone, British spelling, no opinion on who is liable.
9. Reply to "how much for a new bathroom?"
A customer asked "how much for a new bathroom?" Write a friendly reply giving my typical range for plumbing ([£low] to [£high]) and the things that change the price ([list: moving waste pipes, electric shower, tiling, who supplies the suite]). Offer a visit for a fixed price. British spelling, under 150 words.
10. Winter tips post
Write a Google Business Profile post for a plumber in [town] with three practical winter tips: [list, such as how to thaw a frozen condensate pipe safely, where the stopcock is, bleeding radiators]. End with my phone number for emergencies. Under 150 words, British spelling, no hype.
