AI quote and follow-up tools for UK trades
Winning the job often means a clear quote sent the same day, then a polite follow-up if the customer goes quiet. AI can draft the words; your figures still need to come from your costs. Prices below were checked on each provider's page on 14 or 15 October 2026.
Work out the number before you write the email
- Price the job with the quote and VAT calculator (materials, markup, labour, VAT or reverse charge).
- If materials might move, add a price-change clause.
- Put the figures into the quote template, or into your job app.
- Only then ask ChatGPT or Claude to polish the covering message.
Step-by-step pricing: how to price a job and how to write a quote that wins. Ready-made wording: ChatGPT prompts for tradespeople.

Follow-up after no reply
Write a polite WhatsApp or email follow-up for quote [number] sent on [date] for [job] at £[amount]. Offer to adjust the scope or answer questions. One short paragraph, British spelling. Don't add a discount unless I type one here: [discount or "none"].
Scope clarification before you requote
Turn these site notes into a clear list of what's included and excluded for a revised quote: [notes]. Keep my prices unchanged: [paste line items]. British spelling, bullet points.
Rules to keep in mind
- If you agree the job in the customer's home, tell them about the 14-day cancellation right (GOV.UK doorstep selling).
- For business customers, late payment interest may apply — see the late payment interest calculator and how to chase a late payment.
- Never let the AI invent a price. If it suggests a figure you did not supply, delete it.

FAQ
Can AI write the whole quote for me?
It can draft the wording. The pounds and VAT still need to come from your calculator or job app.
Is Tradify or Jobber worth it just for quotes?
If you only send a few quotes a month, the free quote template may be enough. Apps help when you also schedule, invoice and chase from the same place.
Should follow-ups include a discount?
Only if you mean it. Automatic "10% off if you book today" wording from an AI tool is easy to send by mistake.
