How do I cancel ChatGPT Plus?
Short answer
Cancel ChatGPT Plus wherever you bought it. On chatgpt.com, go to Settings, then Billing, then Cancel plan. If you subscribed in the iPhone app, cancel in your Apple subscriptions; on Android, use Google Play. Do it at least 24 hours before renewal. Uninstalling the app doesn't cancel, and you keep Plus until the period ends.
On chatgpt.com
- Sign in to ChatGPT.
- Open your account menu and select Settings.
- Select Billing.
- Under Cancel plan, select Cancel.
On iPhone or iPad (App Store)
Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions, then ChatGPT, then Cancel Subscription. If there's no cancel button and an expiry date shows, it's already cancelled.
On Android (Google Play)
Open the Play Store, then Subscriptions, then ChatGPT, then Cancel subscription. Make sure you're in the Google account you paid with.
Not sure where you paid?
Check the receipt email. A subscription bought on chatgpt.com doesn't appear in Apple or Google subscriptions, and vice versa. If you can't sign in, OpenAI Support can cancel a web subscription if you give the account email plus two billing details, such as the last four card digits and the date of the last charge. Never send the full card number.

Yes. Plus is monthly with no minimum term. Cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep access until the end of the month you've paid for.
Will I get a refund?
Not automatically. OpenAI says refund eligibility depends on your purchase and location. For web and Google Play purchases, ask OpenAI Support while signed in; for App Store purchases, ask Apple.
Do I lose my chats if I cancel?
No. Your account moves back to the free plan and your history stays. Deleting your account is a separate, permanent step (see how to delete ChatGPT data).
Does ChatGPT Plus have a free trial?
OpenAI's pricing page and Plus help page don't offer one. Plus is billed monthly from the day you upgrade, so cancel if it isn't earning its keep.
