Will Copilot work on Windows 10?
Short answer
Partly. Windows 10 support ended on 14 October 2025. Microsoft says Microsoft 365 apps on Windows 10 get feature updates and Copilot support until version 2608, then only security updates until 10 October 2028. Copilot on the web still works in a browser, but new Copilot features need Windows 11.
What this means
| On Windows 10 | |
|---|---|
| Copilot in Word, Excel, Outlook | Works, but frozen at version 2608 features |
| Security updates for Microsoft 365 apps | Until 10 October 2028 |
| New Copilot features | Not after version 2608 |
| Copilot on the web | Works in a supported browser |
| Microsoft support | Limited; Microsoft may ask you to move to Windows 11 |
What a small business should do
- Check if your PCs can run Windows 11 (Settings, Update and Security, Windows Update).
- If not, plan replacements, and consider Microsoft's Extended Security Updates in the meantime.
- Don't run unsupported PCs that hold customer data indefinitely; it's a security risk.
