Bookings and no-shows
1. No-show and late cancellation policy
Write a short, friendly no-show and late cancellation policy for my barbershop. Plain English, fair, British spelling, under 150 words.
Keep it fair: the Consumer Rights Act 2015 lists, as a term that may be unfair, one requiring a consumer who decides not to go ahead to pay a disproportionately high sum in compensation or for services not supplied (Schedule 2, paragraph 5). Unfair terms aren't binding on the consumer (section 62).
2. Appointment reminder text

3. Fill a last-minute chair

6. Under-18s and age-restricted services
Write a clear notice for my barbershop website and booking page explaining which services we don't offer to under-18s ([list, for example sunbeds or any cosmetic injectable we don't do]), that we may ask for ID, and that parents must [book / attend] for children's cuts under [age]. Friendly, plain English, British spelling, under 120 words.
In England it's an offence to give botulinum toxin or cosmetic fillers to under-18s for cosmetic purposes, or for a business to arrange it (Botulinum Toxin and Cosmetic Fillers (Children) Act 2021). A sunbed business in England or Wales must make sure no one under 18 uses a sunbed on its premises (Sunbeds (Regulation) Act 2010). Only mention services you actually offer.
7. Written tipping policy for staff
Write a short, plain-English tipping policy for my barbershop team. Cover: how card and cash tips are collected, that all tips are passed to staff without deductions, how they're shared ([method]), when they're paid ([with wages]), and that staff can ask to see the tip records. British spelling, under 200 words.
GOV.UK says tips do not count towards the National Minimum Wage, and all tips must be passed to workers without deductions (GOV.UK: tips at work). Check wages against the National Minimum Wage checker.
Clients and reviews

FAQ
Can a barbershop keep a deposit for a no-show?
Many do, but the policy must be clear and fair. A term requiring a consumer who cancels to pay a disproportionately high sum may be unfair under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (Schedule 2, paragraph 5).
Do barbers have to pass on all tips?
Yes. All tips must go to workers without deductions, under the rules on GOV.UK. Tips don't count towards minimum wage.
